An overview of BBM
BBM is a non-profit service provider working in the sector of development cooperation. Our primary goal is the efficient implementation of donations collected in Austria and beyond. Thus, only a contribution to cover the cost price is charged and no profit is made.
Our activities focus on the areas of mobility and technology & ecology. Both focal points provide support for the logistics factor. These include, for example, the procurement and delivery of motor vehicles, or the planning and implementation of technical-ecological (large-scale) projects.
Every year, we handle around 300 projects, mainly on the African continent. The clients or initiators of the projects are Austrian and international relief organisations, dioceses, religious congregations, but also smaller associations, "One World Circles" or privately committed individuals.
Every project is unique. At BBM, we are known for finding the best possible solution for every challenge. Our partners have been relying on BBM's expertise for over 30 years.
1989 – Foundation of BBM – MIVA procurement company
BBM is founded as a subsidiary of MIVA. The ultimate goal is to further professionalise the delivery of MIVA vehicles. BBM can also offer its know-how to other aid organisations so that, in addition to vehicles, a wide variety of relief supplies will soon be delivered to the areas of operation. With its expertise in logistics and exports, BBM actively helps to save costs and thus make the best possible use of the donations.
1995 - Start of technical project management
In addition to the purchase and delivery of vehicles and relief goods, the handling of technical projects starts in 1995. The focus is on ecology and sustainability. Diesel generators are replaced by photovoltaic systems. Water is no longer heated by wood stoves – for example in hospital laundries – but by solar collectors. With such projects, BBM helps the environment and the people who live in it at the same time.
2003 – a new office building is built
The ChristophorusHaus is constructed as an innovative passive house. The idea arose not least from BBM's experience in the field of technology and ecology. The house facilitates the work of MIVA and BBM and offers space for international meetings. Moreover, the ecological and innovative building expresses the concept that not only we, but also future generations should benefit from our actions today.
2019 – 30 years of BBM
BBM celebrates its 30th anniversary. We have established ourselves as a non-profit service provider in development cooperation. Our services and expertise are valued by national and international organisations and project partners worldwide.

More about us
BBM is based at ChristophorusHaus in Stadl-Paura, Upper Austria. ChristophorusHaus was built in 2003 as an innovative, climate-friendly building. The innovative construction method was intended not least as a sign of credibility. What we as BBM implement in the countries of the southern hemisphere in the field of ecology, we also want to exemplify in Austria. It is a house that facilitates human interactions. It brings guests into conversation, is a place for dialogue and cooperation. The person is the centre of attention here. In addition to BBM, it is also home to MIVA Austria. MIVA is a relief organisation of the Catholic Church. Its task is to provide means of transport for the development cooperation projects. Scope of BBM activity
BBM is an international, not-for-profit operation. From Stadl-Paura we are literally in contact with the whole world. Thus, we accept project requests from all over the globe. However, our activities are primarily focused on the African continent. This is not least due to the fact that infrastructure development in many rural areas of Africa ranges from very poor to almost non-existent.
